GM Viswanathan Anand pleased with children taking to chess
July 6th, 2011 - 7:12 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, July 6 (IANS) World chess champion and NIIT MindChampion Viswanathan Anand Wednesday expressed happiness that young minds are taking to the game.
“It is heartening to note that young children are taking up chess enthusiastically and mastering the strategies of the game,” Anand said while felicitating the south zone finalalists of NIIT MindChampions Academy (MCA) at a function here.
Recent studies suggest there is a strong correlation between chess and academic excellence and MCA Clubs have positively influenced the students by enabling them to experience holistic learning during the school hours, a company official said.
