Girls outshine boys in ICSE results
May 17th, 2011 - 8:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 17 (IANS) Girls outshone boys in the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) Class 10 and Class 12 results declared Tuesday.
“Girls have done better than boys with a pass percentage of 99.15 percent in class 10, while boys have scored 98.19 percent. The pass rate of girls stands at 98.40 percent in Class 12 against 96.30 percent of boys,” an ICSE statement said.
The exams, held in March, had 57,487 candidates in Class 12, while 122,347 students took the Class 10 exams.
“The (overall) pass rate of students in Class 12 was 97.24 percent, up by 0.13 percent from 2010. The pass percentage is 98.61 in Class 10, 0.30 percent higher than 2010,” added the statement.
According to the ICSE, girls performed better than boys in the Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
“While the pass percentage for girls in class 10 was 98.99 percent, boys scored 98.47 percent. In Class 12, the pass percentage of girls is 98.55 percent against 98.26 percent in case of boys,” ICSE statement said.
The best performance was registered by the southern region for class 10, with a pass percentage of 99.72, followed by the western region at 99.63 percent.
