Girl student hit by bus, dies
February 1st, 2010 - 4:18 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Feb 1 (IANS) A girl student was crushed to death Monday when a speeding school bus hit her in Orissa’s Sundergarh district, police said.
Dinapriya Swain of Aurobindo High School died when she was on her way to school on her bicycle in Rourkela.
After the accident, a mob set the school bus on fire. Also, the fire tenders, which were rushed to douse the fire, were damaged by the mob.
The local people blocked the roads and demanded compensation for Swain’s family.
In view of the tense situation, the district police rushed five platoons of police to the spot.
“The accident happened this morning. After the death, the local people have torched the school bus,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinanjay Nayak said.
