Noida, Jan 16 (IANS) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her three brothers after they came to know about her relationship with a boy in the neighbourhood here, police said Monday.

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Anant Dev, the girl, a resident of Nangli village, was murdered by her brothers Subhash, Vikas and Lalit. All three have been arrested.

“The girl was in a relationship with a boy for the past several months and her brothers objected to it,” he said.

“The three brothers said they were also distressed on hearing bad comments from people about her. They tried to make her understand on many different occasions but she did not pay heed to their warnings,” he said.

“On the intervening night of Dec 28 and 29, the three accused took their sister in a car to Chapraula village. There, they tried to insist her to end her relationship with the boy and mend her ways but she did not budge,” Dev said.

Enraged on her refusal to heed their warnings, the brothers took out a metal tool and hit her on the head after which she collapsed. They then throttled her and dumped her body near the Hindon river barrage.

The body is yet to be recovered. The accused said they did not know the whereabouts of the boy, who is also missing.

A case of murder has been registered against the three brothers at Sector-49 police station.
