November 1st, 2009 - 10:19 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Nov 1 (IANS) A girl in a north Kashmir village Sunday allegedly attempted suicide after learning that her pre-paid sim card was not functioning, residents of the village claimed.
According to villagers, Taslima, 23, living in Chattergul village in Ganderbal district, consumed some poisonous substance and had be taken to the hospital in critical condition after she learnt that her pre-paid mobile phone would not function any longer.
There has been widespread anger across Jammu and Kashmir over the union home ministry decision to cancel pre-paid mobile phones across the state because these phones are being used by separatist guerrillas.

The locals say they should not be punished because the pre-paid mobile phones are sometimes used by separatist guerrillas.
