Ghosal, Dipika top seeds in National Squash
December 3rd, 2011 - 6:42 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Dec 3 (IANS) Defending champion Saurav Ghosal and World No.17 Dipika Pallikal have been given top billing in the 59th Senior National squash championships to be held here at the Indian Squash Academy Dec 5-10.
The qualification event for the men’s open category will be held Dec 5-6 with a record number of 117 players in the fray. The main draw features 16 players in men’s section and 32 in the women’s category.
A notable absentee is last year’s winner Joshna Chinappa, who is currently on rehabilitation after a ligament (ACL) surgery.
Other events that will be held concurrently are the men’s masters (over 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55) and the professionals (full-time coaches).
A total of 242 players from 16 states have entered this prestigious tournament which is being hosted by the Tamil Nadu Squash Rackets Association.
The total prize money for the event is Rs.5,67,500. The winner of the men’s event will receive Rs.One lakh and the women’s section winner Rs.40,000.
