Ghaziabad police file case against Noida policemen

Ghaziabad, March 13 (IANS) The Ghaziabad police have registered a criminal case against five police personnel from Noida under anti-corruption laws following a court directive.
The case was registered Thursday night, Superintendent of Police (City) Anant Dev said here Friday.

In a writ petition before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court, Chinki Singh had said some Noida police personnel had abducted her brother, kept him under illegal detention in a police station and demanded Rs.50,000 for his release, Dev said.

She had urged the court to direct the police to initiate action against the erring policemen.

The court, accepting her plea, ordered police to file a criminal case against then station officer Davendra Kumar, sub-inspector Malik, constables Nathhu Singh and Sudhir and driver Yogendra Mohan.

“We are probing the case and appropriate action would be taken after the investigation,” Dev added.
