Ghaziabad, Feb 8 (IANS) Police were yet to make any headway in Thursday’s murder of a five-year-old boy here, as his mother Sunday night told investigators that she had not seen the face of the killer who had also attempted to kill her.
Police recorded the statement of Deepti Chawla in the hospital as she gained consciousness four days after the incident, in which she was also critically injured.

The mother told police that she had seen someone entering her room and killing her son Sarthak Chawla.

“She said, ‘I saw a man coming inside the room. He killed my son. His back was towards me, so I could not see his face. I fainted. He attempted to kill me. I realised that my body was not supporting me. I saw him leaving the room’,” Superintendent of Police Anant Dev said.

Sarthak, the son of a homoeopath doctor, was hammered to death and his 28-year-old mother was was stabbed many times.

The incident came to light when a milkman did not get any response at Rajesh Adeeb Chawla’s house in Satyadeep Apartments in the posh Raj Nagar area and informed the security guard. A hammer and a screw driver were found lying near the spot.

“We still have no clues in this mysterious incident,” said Dev.
