Ghaziabad cop suspended for illegally evicting doctor
September 21st, 2010 - 1:14 am ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Sep 20 (IANS) The station house officer (SHO) of a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district was suspended after a doctor was allegedly evicted from his rented clinic by policemen last week.
The policemen of the Link Road police station allegedly abducted doctor S.N. Sharma Sep 16 and took away his belongings from the clinic.
The Link Road police station officials had not registered a case against anyone, despite the doctor contacting several police officials over the incident.
Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. Vijaita said: “Jitendra Kalra, the SHO of Link Road police station, was found guilty of dispossessing the doctor from his legal possession, therefore, he had been suspended to conduct a fair inquiry”.
Sharma said: “I had dengue fever on Thursday. In the night I had gone to collect my blood pathology report, which had arrived at the clinic. Suddenly, four policemen arrived there and, at gun point, took me to the Link Road police station.
“The SHO of the police station during night took my mobile phone, switched it off and kept it with him. Then, he rudely ordered me to sit in the duty office of the police station, abusing me when I objected.”
“My younger brother came to know about my abduction, and to help me he called up a police officer who arrived at the police station,” the doctor said.
Sharma said when he was released, he went to his clinic in Maharajpur and found some of his belongings missing.
