GCC leaders welcome Gulf Union proposal
December 20th, 2011 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSRiyadh, Dec 20 (IANS/WAM) The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have welcomed a proposal from the Saudi king for a Gulf Union.
Saudi king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is the current chairman of the GCC, had made the proposal at a session of the GCC supreme council Monday in Riyadh.
A statement issued by the GCC secretariat Tuesday said: “The leaders have given directives to the ministerial council to form a specialised body that will be mandated to study the proposal in all its aspects.”
