Ganguly is new chief justice of Madras High Court

Chennai, May 19 (IANS) Ashok Kumar Ganguly Monday took oath as chief justice of the Madras High Court. Governor Surjit Singh Barnala administered the oath to Justice Ganguly at a ceremony attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and his cabinet colleagues.
Ganguly was chief justice of the Orissa High Court. He replaced Justice A.P. Shah, who is now the chief justice of the Delhi High Court.
Born in 1947, Justice Ganguly studied law at Calcutta University in 1970 and practised as a lawyer in the Calcutta High Court.
