Gang of temple thieves held in Kerala

Kasargod (Kerala), Aug 8 (IANS) Three members of an inter-state gang of thieves, responsible for around 30 cases of temple thefts in Karnataka and Kerala, were arrested at Kumbala near here Friday, the police said. The three were arrested after the police intercepted their car near Kumbala. Four idols were recovered from them, said an official at Kumbala police station.

“We have also recovered crowbars and knives from the car. The gang was responsible for the theft at a temple in Kundapuram in Karnataka two days ago,” the official said.

A number of temple thefts has been reported from north Kerala’s Kasargod district in the last one year.
