Gaga ends deal with Target

London, March 9 (IANS) Pop star Lady Gaga has reportedly ended her business partnership with US retailing company Target, over its controversial policies on political donations.

The “Bad Romance” hitmaker pulled out of an exclusive deal after company chiefs allegedly refused to promise never to back political candidates or groups believed to be anti-gay.

“Lady Gaga and Target came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago,” contactmusic.com quoted Gaga’s representative as saying.

The singer had agreed to release a limited edition of her track “Born This Way” at the stores if Target increased its support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (Lgbt) community.

Gaga previously admitted she struggled to make a decision about the Target deal. “That discussion (with Target) was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever had in a business meeting… Our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those (anti-gay) groups.”
