May 11th, 2011 - 4:49 pm ICT by IANSAntananarivo (Madagascar), May 11 (IANS) French Ambassador to Madagascar Jean-Marc Chataignier had a miraculous escape when his small plane crashed in the southeast part of the Indian Ocean island nation, officials told Xinhua Wednesday.
The single-engined four-seater plane crashed Tuesday in a rice field in Farafangana after engine failure.
A few minutes after take-off, the pilot noted that one of the engine’s cylinders had overheated and turned back.
The pilot tried a crash landing in the rice field. He was injured in the process, officials said, without giving details.
