July 6th, 2011 - 11:51 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, July 6 (IANS) French dairy major Danone forayed into this tech hub with a range of products, including flavoured yoghurts, as part of its India expansion plans, the Fortune 500 firm said Wednesday.
“Our fresh dairy products have been developed specially for the Indian market, keeping in view the needs of health-conscious consumers and have been fortified with essential nutrients such as iron, zinc and vitamin A,” the Indian subsidiary of the French food products multinational said in a statement here.
The euro 17-billion French major also formed 50:50 joint venture with Yakult Honsha of Japan in 2005 to set up a state-of-the-art facility to produce a range of dairy products at Rai, Sonepat district, in Haryana.
“Our flavoured yoghurts have a unique recipe and offer a distinctive mix of health and taste to consumers. Health through food and beverages remains at the heart of our development and has spurred substantial investment in research and development,” the statement added.
With 160 dairy plants in 120 countries and employing about 80,000 people, Danone has presence in all five continents.
