Four suspended cops escape from custody
July 22nd, 2011 - 10:48 pm ICT by IANSJaipur, July 22 (IANS) Four Rajasthan policemen who had been suspended and placed under custody over the death of a 20-year-old Dalit youth escaped early Friday, police said.
The four had detained Rahul Kumar July 13 on suspicion of robbery. He was allegedly tortured, after which he died at Guda Engla police station in Pali, about 300 km from here.
A case of homicide was registered against the four policemen, including a inspector. They were placed under “protective custody” at the Police Reserve Lines.
