Four soldiers killed in Philippine rebel ambush

Manila, Aug 30 (Xinhua) At least four Philippine soldiers were killed and 10 wounded early Saturday when they were ambushed by suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf group in southern part of the country, a media report said.The rebels fired mortars towards the military headquarters in Patikul town before engaging in a gunfight with the soldiers, the ABS-CBN News said, quoting security officials.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital.

Security teams were dispatched to the clash site to pursue the militants.

No further details were immediately available.
