Agartala, July 22 (IANS) In a bizarre incident, four sisters committed suicide by consuming poison in Tripura after a quarrel with their mother, police said here Tuesday. “Following a quarrel with her mother over educational issues, Soma Ahmed persuaded her three younger sisters to consume poison before committing suicide herself,” said Jalaluddin Ahmed, father of the victims.

Soma was 22 years old while her younger siblings were aged between four and 15 years.

Ahmed, a retired schoolteacher, told the police: “My wife has been always opposing the daughters’ education leading to frequent squabbles among the mother and daughters and that was the root cause of trouble in our family.”
