Four of family found dead in Kolkata
December 26th, 2011 - 11:34 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Dec 26 (IANS) Four members of a family were found dead in their home here Monday. Police suspect that the man killed his wife and two children, and then hanged himself.
Prabir Mandal, 43, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his home in Kankurgachi after the police broke open the door of the house.
The body of his wife Sandhya, 35, was found on the bed while their two children Prashant and Sikha were lying dead on the floor, a police officer said.
The bodies bore injuries on the back of the head, probably caused by a heavy metal object. A crowbar recovered from the house is suspected to be the murder weapon, he added.
The neighbours called the police after they found the door of Mandal’s house locked for the last two days.
Police suspect that Mandal, a driver, killed the three and committed suicide, though the motive is still unclear.
