New Delhi, March 1 (IANS) Four minor girls - all residents of Maharashtra - were rescued from a brothel in Delhi, police said Thursday.
The girls aged between 15-17 years were rescued following a tip-off received by police.
“We received information that some minor girls had been forced into prostitution and were being held captive in brothel number 40, G.B. Road. We raided the place and rescued them,” said a police official.
“All of them belong to poor families and they were brought to the capital by an unidentified woman in Maharashtra on the pretext of lucrative employment,” police said.
According to police, the girls were brought to Delhi and sold to the brothel owner.
“They were then forced into prostitution while being held captive,” said the official.
