Four Maoists surrender in Uttar Pradesh
July 22nd, 2011 - 11:34 pm ICT by IANSSonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh), July 22 (IANS) Four Maoists surrendered to police with their weapons in this Uttar Pradesh district Friday, an official said.
The four Maoists - Guddu Singh alias Vinay, Ram Dular, Sunil Ravidas and Surendra - surrendered with three self-loading rifles (SLR) and around 200 cartridges.
“While Guddu and Ram Dular are natives of Rohtas in Bihar, Surendra and Sunil hail from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh respectively,” Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar told reporters in Sonbhadra, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“All the four were active in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. As they have surrendered, police will make efforts for them to join the mainstream,” he added.
