Four Maoists held with explosives
January 5th, 2012 - 10:09 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Jan 5 (IANS) Four Maoists were arrested Thursday in Chhattisgarh’s restive Bastar region with arms and explosives, a police official said.
The arrests were made from Rowghat forested area in Kanker district, some 290 km south of Raipur.
A senior official at the police headquarters here said a joint search contingent of state police and the Border Security Force (BSF) tracked down the four Maoists in the iron-ore rich Rowghat area.
Police also recovered arms, explosives and Maoist literature from the four rebels who were involved in at least a dozen attacks on police in the past three years in the district.
