Four Maoists arrested in Jharkhand (Lead)
October 18th, 2010 - 6:33 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Oct 18 (IANS) Four Maoists were arrested from Palamau and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand Monday, police said.
Two guerrillas were arrested in Palamau, around 180 km from Ranchi, after a gun battle between the police and Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC), a Maoist front.
JPC area commander Girivar Chaudhary and another member Vijay were arrested, and two rifles, live cartridges and some incriminating documents were seized from them.
In Hazaribagh, two guerrillas belonging to Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), another Maoist organisation, were apprehended.
The Maoists, including TPC sub zonal commander Irfan Mia, were arrested on a tip off from Jameri village, which falls under Keredari police station of the district, around 130 km from Ranchi.
Police seized one rifle and live cartridges from the rebels.
