Four Manipuri militants arrested in Goa
January 19th, 2011 - 6:14 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, Jan 19 (IANS) Four militants, including a woman attached to a Manipur-based militant group People’s United Liberation Front (PULF) were arrested from a coastal village in south Goa Wednesday.The arrests were conducted in a joint operation by the Manipur police and Goa police personnel, Superintendent of Police Allen D’Sa told IANS.
The police, however, did not reveal the names of those arrested.
“We have just conducted the arrests. There may be other accomplices. We will be revealing details shortly,” D’Sa said, adding that the raids were conducted at Cansaulim, 45 km from Panaji.
According to information available, the PULF is Manipur’s only Muslim militant group. It is allegedly funded by Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agency and functions along the Bangladesh border.
