Four lawyers arrested for attack on media

Bangalore, March 3 (IANS) Police arrested four advocates for their alleged involvement in the violent attack on media persons in the city civil court complex here Friday, Police Commissioner Jyotiprakash Mirji said Saturday.

“We have arrested four lawyers — A.P. Ranganath, Somesh, Arun Naik and Santosh under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for their alleged involvement in the incidents that took place in the city civic court complex Friday,” Mirji told reporters here.

Ranganath is the secretary of the Bangalore Advocates Association.

“We are arresting only advocates those who are reportedly involved in the incidents. There is no pressure on police to spare anyone who attacked media persons and policemen,” Mirji asserted

The police also registered 31 cases in connection with the attacks on media persons and policemen by the lawyers and the pitched battles that followed.
