Four killed, one injured in Kolkata road accident
February 28th, 2010 - 1:07 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Feb 28 (IANS) Four people were killed and one person was critically injured in a road accident in southern Kolkata, police said Sunday.
The accident took place late Saturday as a speeding lorry collided head on with a matador near Lake Kalibari area on Southern Avenue.
“Four people sitting in the driver’s cabin of the matador died on the spot while the driver of the vehicle received critical injuries and was admitted to the S.S.K.M. Hospital,” a Kolkata police officer told IANS.
“He (driver) is in critical condition now,” he said, adding that the police have already seized both the offending vehicles.
“No one has been arrested in connection with the accident. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the road mishap,” the police officer said.
