Four killed in Rajasthan accident
August 18th, 2012 - 9:56 pm ICT by IANSJaipur, Aug 18 (IANS) Four people were killed while three others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a van in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district Saturday, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred around 1.30 a.m. in Nimbahera area of the district, some 300 km from Jaipur.
“Members of a family were on their way to Udaipur in a van to see some relative who had been hospitalised when their vehicle rammed into a truck in a bid to save a pedestrian crossing the road,” said a police officer.
The officer said the pedestrian, who is yet to be identified, and three people travelling in the van were killed on the spot.
The three have been identified as Prahlad Kumar, 35, Ishwar Lal Dhankar, 32, and Nanalal Dhankar, 30, the officer said adding that three others, Bhanwari Bai, Surendra and Chandraprakash sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital.
The truck driver escaped leaving the vehicle on the spot, he said.
