Four killed in police firing in Bihar, probe ordered (Lead)
June 4th, 2011 - 12:35 am ICT by IANSPatna, June 3 (1ANS) Four people were killed and over a dozen injured in police firing on a group of protesters in Bihar’s Araria district Friday evening, an official said. A probe has been ordered into the incident.
The police opened fire at a group of protesters trying to burn down a factory in Farbisganj, about 350 km from Patna.
According to a district administration official, the angry people were protesting against the blocking of a street due to the factory.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a probe into the incident. “Nitish Kumar asked home secretary and additional director general of police to visit Farbisganj Saturday to inquire into it and submit a report to him,” said an official in chief minister’s office.
Reports reaching here said that Farbisganj was tense after the incident. Hundreds of angry people were protesting against the it near the factory late Friday night.
