Agartala, April 1 (IANS) At least four people were killed and 10 others injured when lightning struck them in Tripura villages, an official said Wednesday.
A 42-year-old woman and three young men died when lightning struck in Kapalipara, Hedania, Teliamura villages of western Tripura and Udaipur village in the southern part of the state Tuesday. The injured, including a child, were admitted to government hospitals.

Lightning and thunder, accompanied by high velocity winds, lashed Tripura during the past two days, damaging standing crops and uprooting electric poles and telephone lines.

“The seasonal cyclonic rainstorm largely damaged the watermelon and a variety of horticultural crops across Tripura,” said a senior agriculture department official.
