Four held with cache of firearms
February 3rd, 2011 - 8:05 pm ICT by IANSKannauj (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 3 (IANS) Four men were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district for supplying illegal firearms and ammunition to various states of the country, police said Thursday.They were arrested late Wednesday following a shootout in Chibramau area. Around 30 country-made pistols and several cartridges were recovered from them.
“They were arrested while they were on their way to hand over an arms consignment in Hardoi district,” police inspector Vijaypal Singh told reporters in Kannauj, some 250 km from state capital Lucknow.
“Preliminary investigations indicate the four had links with gangs in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar,” he added.
