Four held for running illegal firearms racket
March 18th, 2011 - 8:32 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 18 (IANS) Four men were arrested for allegedly running an illegal firearms racket here, police said Friday.
According to the police, Rajesh, Sunil, Naeem and Akash Gupta have a history of criminal cases against them, including murder, rioting, burglary and trespassing.
“Rajesh and Sunil were initially arrested March 10 from Sabzi Mandi area in north Delhi on tip-offs. They fired at the police and damaged vehicles while trying to escape,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Arun Kampani said.
Gupta was held March 13 from Sabzi Mandi area and Naeem March 14 from Malkaganj, police said.
Two 9 mm pistols, two .32 bore pistols and two country-made pistols with thirteen live cartridges were recovered from them.
