Four held for over 300 robberies
August 15th, 2010 - 12:56 am ICT by IANSNoida, Aug 14 (IANS) Four men were arrested in Noida for allegedly committing over 300 robberies in the past three years, police said Saturday.
According to police, the accused were identified as Shahnawaz, Nizam, Shahid and Babu Ram. A Toyota Qualis jeep, two illegally-made pistols and two knives were seized from them, a police official said.
“The gang was quite notorious. They have committed as many as 300-400 robberies within last three years,” Superintendent of Police H.N. Singh said.
“The gang members targeted people on isolated stretches, mostly at night time. They offered them lifts and then robbed them,” he told said.
The gang was active in Noida, Indirapuram, Delhi and Lucknow, Singh said.
