Four held, drugs worth Rs.1.39 crore seized

New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS) Four people were arrested and drugs worth Rs.1.39 crore seized in three different incidents in east and south Delhi, an official said Saturday.

Hanif Salman, 24, was arrested on a tip-off from Seelampur area of east Delhi Friday and a kilo of heroin worth Rs.1 crore was recovered from him, police said.

“Salman procured the drugs from Manipur,” a police official said.

In another incident, drug trafficker Roshan Lal, 41, was arrested from east Delhi’s Anand Vihar area Wednesday. Police recovered 290 grams of heroin worth Rs.29 lakh from him.

In the third incident, more than 100 kg ganja (marijuana) was seized and Veer Bahadur, 22, and Jamshed, 37, were arrested from Okhla area of south Delhi Thursday.

They procured the ganja from Cuttack and Angul in Orissa and sold it in Delhi, police said.

“We recovered 100.4 kg ganja worth Rs.10 lakh from the car in which the two were travelling,” a police official said.
