Four girl students killed in Chhattisgarh accident
November 17th, 2009 - 11:36 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Nov 17 (IANS) Four girl students, on their way to a sports meet, were killed and six others were injured Tuesday in Chhattisgarh when their vehicle hit a truck, police said. The vehicle’s driver was also killed.
The accident took place in Bastar district’s Keshkal area, some 170 km south of capital Raipur.
Twelve girls from Bijapur district were on their way to Raigarh district to participate in a sports meet when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck. Three girls and the driver died on the spot while another girl succumbed to her injuries in the hospital, officials at police headquarters here said.
The six injured girls, who were taken to a local government hospital, were shifted to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Hospital here late Tuesday evening. Doctors at then hospital have termed their condition “serious”.
