Four crushed to death by train in Uttar Pradesh
May 6th, 2011 - 12:45 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, May 6 (IANS) Four people were crushed to death by an express train in Uttar Pradesh Friday when they were crossing the railway track, police said Friday. One person was critically injured.
The five men were crossing the track in Jaunpur, about 25 km from Lucknow, and were hit by the Howrah-Kathogodam Express.
“The mishap took place near the Bhupati railway crossing,” Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Indra Dev told reporters in Jaunpur.
“When the five noticed the Varuna Express on the tracks they were moving on, they hurriedly moved to the down track and were hit by the Howrah-Kathgodam Express. Four of them died on the spot,” he added.
According to police, the five men were daily wage labourers from different places in Jaunpur.
