Four auto drivers held for murder in Delhi
July 13th, 2011 - 1:04 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 12 (IANS) Four auto-rickshaw drivers, who looted their passengers, were arrested for looting and then killing a 41-year-old man in west Delhi, police said Tuesday.
“Dilip, 26, Sultan Singh, 45, Bhola, 24 and Parkash Kumar Chawla, 19, were held from their homes at different parts of the city with the help of electronic surveillance Monday,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan.
They were held for killing Kanhiya Dey, who was working as office assistant cum peon at Scientific Management Security Services Private Limited at Mansarover Garden in west Delhi.
Police said Dey was found unconscious on July 1 at Punjabi Bagh area. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
During investigation, police found that Dey used to deliver uniforms and mobile phones to the newly recruited security guards posted outside Delhi. On July 1, he had to go to Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh to deliver a package containing mobile phones.
“He was standing in Nangloi area when an auto, containing the accused, approached him and offered to take him to Anand Vihar Bus Terminal for a minimum fare,” said Renganathan.
When the auto reached the Punjabi Bagh flyover, they tried to snatch Dey’s baf and shot him, when he tried to resist. They then dumped on the road.
“They used to looting money or valuables from the passengers who take their auto and are involved in other similar incidentswhich we are verifying,” added Renganathan.
