Four arrested for running cricket betting racket
August 10th, 2009 - 4:11 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Aug 10 (IANS) Four people running a betting racket on cricket matches have been arrested in the Madhya Pradesh capital, police said Monday.
Acting on a tip off, police late Sunday raided a house in Sri Ram Colony and arrested the four while they were taking bets on the one day match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, a police official said.
Police seized a laptop on which records of the bets were maintained. A television set and 11 cell phones were also seized.
A case has been registered against the four under the Information Technology Act and the Gambling Act.
