Four African men, Indian woman arrested for cheating
February 19th, 2010 - 10:57 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) A gang of three Nigerians, an Ivory Coast resident and an Indian woman, who claimed to be a member of the Indian Mujahideen, have been arrested for duping people by selling fake herbal products through the internet, police said Friday.
The woman, Nikita alias Anita Dass alias Mrs.Khanna alias Mrs Nisha, claimed to be a member of the Indian Mujahideen, will be interrogated in connection with the recent terror attacks also.
“Richard Eugenes, Tommy Ojeaga, Aaron (all Nigerians) and Lucien (of Ivory Coast) and Nikita were arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Ahmedabad based businessman Hemchandra Barot,” according to a police press release.
Eugenes and Nikita were arrested from near Jor Bagh area in south Delhi Thursday evening, and based on their information, Lucien, Tommy and Aaron were arrested from Arjun Nagar area, where they were living in a rented house.
“On interrogation, they disclosed that their visas have already expired and they were overstaying in India. They revealed that they got involved in internet frauds in association with Nikita,” the release added.
According to police, Nikita was arrested in 2001 by the Delhi Police and was released in 2008. After that, she came in contact with these Nigerian nationals and started living with them. For the last 18 months, she was living with them and indulged in all sorts of cheating by using fictitious names. She is fluent in English and has also worked with a few advocates in the Patiala House courts,” it added.
“Nikita would be interrogated further in coordination with other intelligence agencies in view of the recent terror attack. Efforts are being made to ascertain other involvements of these people,” it further said.
The police recovered around three kilograms of fake herbal seeds, a few fake business cards of various leading drug companies, three laptops, and four passports from their possession.
