Bhopal, Feb 26 (IANS) Nepal’s former ruler Gyanendra arrived here late Thursday evening to attend the marriage of his niece, sources close to the erstwhile royal family said.
“The ex-monarch was accompanied by his wife Komal, sister Sobha Singh and other family members. The wedding is scheduled (Friday) at Bhopal’s Jehanuma Hotel, where important leaders including (Madhya Pradesh) Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are likely to be present,” the sources added.

The visit here of the ex-royals was kept a closely guarded secret by state government officials here due to security reasons. They remained tightlipped throughout the day saying: “We are not aware of the programme including his arrival”.

The former Nepal king is visiting India for the first time after being dethroned following abolition of 240-year-old monarchy in Nepal in 2008.
