Former Bhopal MP commits suicide
October 6th, 2011 - 10:49 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Oct 6 (IANS) Sushil Chandra Verma, former MP from Bhopal, attempted suicide by jumping from a building here Thursday, police said. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
“He had jumped today (Thursday) from a building and died in a hospital during treatment,” city police chief Yogesh Choudhary told IANS.
A suicide note had also been found by the police in which he had written that he was ending his life due to a prolonged illness and depression.
The 85-year-old Verma was four times Bharatiya Janta Party MP from Bhopal. Before joining politics in 1989, he had been a civil servant till 1988. Verma had even become chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh in 1975.
He had also authored six books.
Verma was elected from Bhopal constituency in the 1989, 1991, 1996 and 1998 general elections.
