Fog affects 100 train services in Delhi (Lead)
January 4th, 2012 - 8:49 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 4 (IANS) A light blanket of fog enveloped the national through the day Wednesday, affecting close to 100 train services. The met office has forecast rain Thursday.
According to the Northern Railway website at 4.45 p.m., 98 trains were affected — 30 were cancelled while 68 were running late by more than an hour.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in a statement that no flights were cancelled due to fog or bad weather in the national capital.
However, 14 flights were cancelled - six due to bad weather conditions at the destination airports and eight due to technical and operational reasons.
A total of 55 flights were delayed — 15 due to bad weather at the destination airports and 40 due to technical and operational reasons of the airlines.
Wednesday’s maximum and minimum temperature settled at 21.8 degrees and 8 degrees Celsius, both a notch above average while the humidity levels wavered between a high of 97 and a low of 47 percent.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Delhi will be lashed by rains Thursday and the maximum and minimum temperature is expected to hover around 23 and 10 degrees Celsius.
