London, Feb 22 (IANS) England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff could be barred from playing in second season of Indian Premier League (IPL) in April over fitness ground, warned England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
ECB chief executive David Collier Sunday said there is a chance that Flintoff could be pulled out of the IPL to improve his chances of being fit for the Ashes in the summer.

Flintoff has currently been sidelined by a hip injury that has ruled him out of Thursday’s fourth cricket Test against West Indies.

“We’d be concerned if any player is carrying an injury as it may affect his participation in the Ashes series and we’ll look at that as we move forward,” Collier was quoted as saying in the Guardian.

“There are also medical clauses. The IPL are very responsible in that area and we have very, very strong relationships with Chennai. Andrew’s own team (Lancashire) will also be looking at the injury prognosis.

“We would need to review it, obviously this has only just happened. But there are injury provisions in both sides of the contract,.” he said.
