Five-year-old kidnapped, sexually assaulted
March 13th, 2011 - 1:48 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, March 13 (IANS) A five-year-old girl was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by an unknown assailant in Chandigarh, police said Sunday.
According to the police, the victim was kidnapped from a marriage function at Sector 40, at around 10.30 p.m. Friday.
The girl’s father lodged a police complaint and a search operation was launched. The police found the girl standing naked outside a government school in the same sector late in the night.
“The victim was weeping and she was first spotted by the security guard of the school. She is still traumatized and unable to speak much. She said that someone took her away and repeatedly slapped her. We have booked a case against unknown person,” Charanjit Singh Virk, investigation officer of the case told IANS.
“We have conducted the medical examination of the victim. Though rape was not confirmed, but she was sexually assaulted and had injury marks on her private parts,” said Virk.
Eyewitnesses said that they had seen a man talking to the victim outside the hall where marriage function was on. Police are also scrutinizing the video recording of the marriage to gather clues about the attacker.
