Five-year-old boy kidnapped in Chandigarh (Lead)
December 23rd, 2010 - 11:25 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Dec 23 (IANS) A five-year-old boy was kidnapped from Burail village here two days ago for a ransom of Rs.10 lakh, police said Thursday. A reward of Rs.100,000 has been announced for those giving clues in the case.According to police, Kushpreet Singh went missing from outside his house here Tuesday around 12.30 p.m.
Police have failed to trace the kidnappers.
The Chandigarh administration announced a cash reward of Rs.100,000 for those who provide any clue leading to the arrest of the kidnappers.
On Tuesday evening, the kidnappers called up Kushpreet’s uncle and demanded a ransom of Rs.10 lakh.
“Kidnappers are using public telephone booths situated in neighbouring Punjab towns,” a police officer said.
Police sources said the child’s parents paid Rs.4 lakh to kidnappers Wednesday but the boy was not released.
