Five workers killed in Punjab paper mill blast (Lead)
August 21st, 2010 - 6:21 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Aug 21 (IANS) At least five workers of a private paper factory in Punjab were killed Saturday when a blast took place in the drier of the unit, police said.
Seven other workers were injured in the accident on Dhuri Road near Malerkotla town in Sangrur district, about 150 km from Chandigarh.
While four workers died on the spot, the fifth succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
Punjab police officials said they were investigating what triggered the drier blast. A case has been registered.
