Five thieves arrested
March 8th, 2011 - 11:39 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, March 8 (IANS) Five people, including a woman, were Tuesday arrested for looting passengers in moving public transport vehicles in Ghaziabad, police said.
Kunwarpal, Ajit, Praveen and Gopal and Kusum were arrested in Indirapuram.
Police have recovered Rs.1.70 lakh, one-and-half kg of silver, gold ornaments, a camera and 10 mobile phones from them.
Senior Superintendent of Police Raghubir Lal said the gang operated in moving tempos and mini-buses and targeted people carrying suitcases and bags.
“The accused had stolen jewellery worth lakhs of rupees and cash from a man, Pradeep, in Vijay Nagar on March 2,” he said.
On that occasion, police arrested two members of the gang Pushpendra and Rajendra, while the others fled.
