Five SIMI activists arrested in Madhya Pradesh
October 21st, 2009 - 8:31 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Oct 21 (IANS) Five activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) have been arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city, police said Wednesday.
The five were arrested late Tuesday from Khajrana locality where they were living for quite some time, Inspector General of Police Sanjay Rana told reporters in Indore.
Two of the arrested men, Mohammad Shafiq and Mohammad Yunus, were wanted by the police to stand trial for serial blasts in Ahmedabad. They belonged to Ujjain district, and the remaining three - Sheikh Sajid, Arshad and Firoz - are from Khandwa district.
Anti-Terror Squad chief Pawan Srivastava said: “Incriminating documents, which prove that they were the members of SIMI have been recovered from their possession.”
“We expect to get some vital clues regarding other blast cases from them,” he said.
