Five policemen among six killed in Peshawar blasts (Lead)
August 11th, 2011 - 1:32 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Aug 11 (IANS) Six people, including five policemen, were killed and 28 others were injured Thursday in bomb attacks in northwest Pakistan’s Peshawar city, Xinhua reported.
Five policemen were killed and 17 others were injured when a bomb was detonated near their bus close to a checkpost in Peshawar city. There were 20 policemen in the vehicle.
Also on Thursday, two female suicide bombers attacked the checkpost near where the first blast occurred. One of the attackers died and 11 others were injured in the incident, the local Urdu channel Express TV reported.
Witnesses said the bombers, aged about 17 and 45 years, first threw a grenade at the checkpost before detonating the explosives.
