“Three men, their sister and mother were travelling in a Santro car. The family was going to Haridwar in Uttarakhand to perform the last rites of the father of the siblings who died on Aug 21. The car was driven by one of the brothers. They were coming from Ludhiana,” investigating officer Kuldeep Singh told IANS.
“The driver did not notice a truck parked on the roadside and rammed into it. Eyewitnesses told police that the car was moving at a very high speed. There is a probability that the driver slept for a moment and could not react immediately on seeing the truck,” he said.
Mandi Gobindgarh town is around 40 km from state capital Chandigarh.
