Five of a family murdered in Kerala

July 25th, 2008 - 9:23 pm ICT by IANS -

Palakkad (Kerala), July 25 (IANS) The police Friday recovered three bodies from a house in Amayoor in Palakkad district of Kerala, where two children were found dead two days earlier. The police confirmed it as a case of murder. The police identified the victims as Lissy, her children Amalu (12), Amal (9), Amalya (8), and Amanya (3). The police said they suspect the woman’s husband Reji to be behind the crime.

Reji and Lissy were labourers at a nearby rubber plantation.

Police Wednesday had found bodies of Amalu and Amalya inside the house Wednesday.

Both of them were studying at a school in Ramapuram in Kottayam district, around 200 km from Palakkad, and were staying at an orphanage there.

According to the police, when they contacted the school and the orphanage authorities, they said that Reji had come and taken the children home from the orphanage Tuesday.

During the search, police found the body of Lissy dumped in a septic tank. The bodies of two other children were found stuffed in two gunny bags and abandoned in a bush near the house.

“It is a planned murder. We strongly suspect that it was Reji who had committed the crime,” said C.K. Ramachandran, deputy superintendent of police, who is investigating the crime.

Police said the murders were committed on different days. While Amalu and Amalaya were murdered Wednesday, Lissy and other children were killed some days ago. The police said they are yet to ascertain the motive for the crime.
